In Graciela's words

Why workers, and only workers

My first job out of law school was at a firm that defended companies in wage cases. I learned how they keep records, which ones they lose, and how often a worker gives up because nobody explained what the pay stub meant.

I grew up in the Lower Valley. My mother sewed jeans on a piece rate, and I spent Saturdays at the kitchen table adding up her tickets. That's still more or less what I do on Saturdays, now at the office.

How I work a case

I start with your records and mine side by side, and I tell you the number before I tell anyone else. If the claim isn't worth what it would cost you, you'll hear that from me too.
