Questions

Straight answers about working with us

If yours isn't here, call or text. The first conversation is free.

What does it cost to hire you?

Most of our cases are on contingency: we're paid a share of what's recovered, and nothing if nothing is. Some laws make the employer pay the fee instead. Severance reviews are a flat fee we quote up front.

What costs could I still owe?

Case costs, like filing fees, deposition transcripts and expert time, are separate from the lawyer's fee. Your agreement says who pays them and when, including if the case is lost. We go through it line by line before you sign.

Is the first consult really free?

Yes. By phone, by video or at the office on Mesa Street, including Saturday mornings.

What do I bring to the first meeting?

Pay stubs, your schedule or time records, texts or emails from supervisors, your offer letter or handbook, and a short timeline in your own words. A photo of the schedule board counts.

Will my employer know I called?

No. Your employer hears from us only if you decide to go ahead, and only after we've talked through what that means for you.

I don't have my pay stubs. Can I still call?

Yes. Employers have to keep pay records, and we can ask for them. Bring what you remember.

How long does a case take?

A pay claim that settles on a demand letter can take a few weeks. A case that goes to court can take a year or more. We'll tell you which path yours looks like.

Will I have to go to court?

Most cases settle before trial. If yours doesn't, you'll have a lawyer beside you who has been through it with you from the start.

Do you take cases outside El Paso?

We take cases across West Texas and in southern New Mexico, and meet by video when the drive is long.
